Payroll Analyst  

This position provides payroll expertise, processing and auditing payroll activities.  Incumbent will process in-house payroll up to settlement, and will provide support to payroll accounting, reconciliations, research of payroll- related matters and multi-state tax.  

Incumbent will serve as a point of contact for Employees for payroll, tax, and all earnings and deductions that have an impact on employee paychecks.  Incumbent will ensure that payroll processes comply with internal and external rules, policies, laws, and regulations, and will play an important role with payroll communications (internal and external), implementations, conversions, mergers and acquisitions and training.

Sr. Manager Payroll

Must have 2+ years of Workday Payroll experience.

Comp: 95-105K + 10%

CPP or FPC (certifications) one or both are required

Degree NOT required but is preferred

Must have managed a team. This team is 3….a lead and 2 clerks/processors.  Minimum of 10 years of payroll experience and 5 years supervisory. 

Hours are 8am – 5pm onsite at their Corporate headquarters in Lakeland, FL.  (about equal distance between Tampa and Orlando).  100% on-site work. No sponsorship, local candidates only.  About 20 people in the Finance department and over 200 at the corporate location.   Business casual dress.

Position Description

The Payroll Sr. Manager is responsible for the accurate delivery of weekly payroll to the Company’s workforce of 3,750+ associates nationwide (including Ohio, Pennsylvania & California) while maintaining compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations and company policies.  This is a hands on position working at the corporate office in Lakeland, FL coordinating the daily operations and activities of the payroll department using Workday and ADP payment services.  Reporting to the VP of Finance, the position works closely with HR (Benefits, HRIS & Corporate systems, and location HR associates) and manages a team of three.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

Ensure payroll is processed and consistently delivered in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner. This includes the weekly production of multi-state payroll(s), including garnishment, benefit contributions, taxable transactions, and payroll related taxes for over 3,750+ associates consistent with federal and multi-state wage and hour laws for all hourly and salaried associates.

Responsible for day to day administration and processing of Workday, the HRIS/payroll system, with back end banking and tax settlement using ADP and Kronos, the time and attendance system of record.

Audit and verify 3rd party processing of statutory reporting and compliance filing(s) to ensure accuracy, compliance and timeliness.  This includes weekly/monthly/quarterly payroll taxes and annual W2s.

Partner with Accounting management team to provide payroll register information and other necessary reports and coordinate banking arrangements related to payroll funding, check reconciliation, audits, and other related matters.

Partner with other HR management team members to maintain current knowledge and ensure compliance with all applicable HR related laws including wage and hour law.

Support all audits related to payroll.

Manage and research all federal and state agency correspondence relating to payroll items.

Continuous improvement approach to enhance payroll efficiencies and effectiveness.

Develop, lead, mentor and motivate payroll team.

Manage the payroll aspect of system updates and upgrades and other special projects as assigned.


Bachelors degree from accredited university preferred and Certified Payroll Professional certification

6-8 years of progressive payroll and management experience in multi-state environment

Proficient knowledge of Workday, ADP payment services and Kronos

Technical proficiency and HRIS experience preferred

Organized and detail oriented with an ability to work independently

Strong interpersonal, decision making and problem resolution skills

Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities

Must maintain the highest regard for confidentiality with extreme discretion and integrity

Ability to exhibit effective, timely decision making skills and customer focused approach

Knowledge of 3PL operations desirable
