POSITION SUMMARY:  Briefly state the objective of this position.

Perform tasks related to analysis, execution, and support of Payroll tax payments, year-end processing, filings, and various compliance programs.  Maintain the utmost confidentiality in dealing with employee records and business information. Assist with the development and delivery of tax, yearend audits, adjustments and filing training.  Required to work independently and may assist in specialized assignments. Ensure that deliverables meet or exceed individual objectives, adhere to payroll goals, and align with service center strategies.

 Payroll Tax Year End Payment, Audits, Adjustments & Filings                                   

Assist Payroll Tax Manager in tax activities including the preparation of tax filing, W-2 Year-end audits & distribution of form W-2s.
Responsible for ensuring timely processing and remittance of federal, state, local, school district and unemployment taxes using SAP and working with relevant vendors. Ensures the accuracy of all tax withholding requirements and the Company is compliant to tax regulations and legislation.
Demonstrates the accuracy of tax filings and adjustments to previous filings data upon request through self-auditing practices, well-defined processes, and balanced reconciliations for each payroll. Assists in the resolution of out-of-balance situations.
Resolves employee payroll or tax questions through effective analysis of the issue and responds in a timely manner. Creates and provides employees with analysis of payroll discrepancies and recommends appropriate actions to resolve issues.
Process required regulatory reporting (e.g., BLS) and provide to internal and external stakeholders as required.
Analyzes and resolves for any discrepancies in withholdings and tax transmissions.
Manage and document federal, state, and local agency notices regarding wage and tax issues.
Set-up tax IDs and process month end reporting.
Assist with internal, external, and government audits. 
Assist manager in approving tax payments and amendments.
Works with IT, Treasury, and banks to set up tax payments to remit electronically.
Coordinate and administer payroll tax compliance requirements
Assists manager in year-end tax reconciliation process and the production and distribution of accurate W-2's, and corrections meeting Federal deadline.
Proactively evaluates Tax Update Bulletins (TUBS) and identifies changes applicable to the Company. Initiates effort to implement tax updates each quarter, working with IT to define rates, functionality, and configuration for implementation. Defines and executes testing plan to ensure updates are implemented correctly. Working with the manager, defines audience affected by the change and prepares and distributes appropriate communication.
Recognizes and adheres to proper Segregation of Duties, Sarbanes-Oxley and internal audit. Responds promptly to audit requests and leads in the resolution of audit issues.
Acts as a team subject matter expert on payroll taxes and trains new employees and contractors as needed.
Perform compliance and year end reporting
Handle US moving and relocation processes.
Manage unemployment claims and respond to queries.
Handle escalated and/ or complex requests or issues.
In the event of a merger or acquisition, assists Payroll in merger or acquisition activities related to payroll, tax processing and employee integration.
Design, document, and review payroll processing procedures. Work with the manager and Service Center Documentation team to organize and facilitate ongoing development, evaluation and maintenance of documentation (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions) to ensure complete, accurate, and up-to-date depiction of processes.  Is this really a tax analyst’s job?
Assist the manager with day-to-day task planning and special projects. 

Business Improvement & Alignment

Assure understanding of tax, yearend audits, adjustments and filings and broader Payroll strategies.
Review, follow, and provide input to payroll team objectives.
Provide ideas, solutions, and tools to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of payroll processing.
Assist in the development, reporting, and review of metrics to drive performance, identify trends, and develop/implement process improvements, escalating issues and proposed solutions as appropriate. 
Assist the manager with capturing and responding to escalated issues, policies, and procedures from government agencies, payroll functions, and the operating companies.

Communicate regularly with manager, team members, and appropriate stakeholders regarding task or project status and opportunities to improve service levels or processes.  
Escalate issues as appropriate to ensure quality service levels.
